Leaving Genius on the Table: Practical Tools to Identify, Nurture, and Sustain Black Brilliance

Equity does not have to be the enemy of excellence. Opportunities to participate in advanced academics and gifted education can be transformative for Black students living in under-resourced communities. However, creating these opportunities can be a daunting task. This session explores the why and the how of providing high-quality programming for underserved high-ability Black students and offers a low-prep/high-yield framework for transforming tier 1 instruction so that each student, regardless of their previous academic success can have access to powerful, high-level critical thinking every day.

FREE Critical Thinking Game

“Informed Opinion” is a game that encourages kids to consider what information they need to know about a situation before they form an opinion about it. Players read real news headlines and take turns naming questions that would lead to a more informed understanding of the news story.
