thinkLaw is excited to share with you an exciting opportunity available to teachers in pilot schools in Arizona this spring!
The BEE Project will pay Black and Hispanic teachers $2,000 to earn their state gifted credential through our unique professional learning and clinical cohort.
The BEE Project inspires, trains, and advocates for Black and Hispanic teachers to equitably design and lead gifted and talented education programs through an asset-based framework that supports the unique needs of brilliant students of color and their families.
With generous support from the Burton Family Foundation, The BEE Project will pay Black and Hispanic educators in Arizona $2,000 to earn their state gifted endorsement. Our combined clinical and professional learning experience gives Black and Hispanic educators the training they need to start, teach, lead, and operate equitable gifted and talented programs in their school systems.
Time Commitment: The cohort will meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. MT, beginning on February 23rd, and continuing for 9 weeks through April (excluding Spring Break).
Course Content: The course syllabus will follow National Association for Gifted Children standards and sessions will be facilitated by experts across the field of gifted education.
Mandatory Research Participation: In addition to weekly sessions, cohort members will earn clinical hours through classroom practice and participate in a research study conducted in partnership with Arizona State University.
Administrative Support Required: The teacher application requires a recommendation from a district administrator or principal and approval of the program fee.
February 13th Deadline: Applications are due no later than Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 10:00 PM MST.
Qualifications: To apply, you must be able to commit to the meeting schedule above and:
- Identify as a Black or Hispanic teacher.
- Be currently teaching in the state of Arizona and hold an active Arizona teaching license.
- Have 2+ years of teaching experience.
