Meet Cathy Watson

From a very early age, Cathy’s parents instilled the value and importance of a good education, for it was something that could never be taken away. It was their nurturing that drove her to become a lifelong learner and quite the inquisitor. Naturally, a career in education was inevitable. After teaching middle, high school, and college-level Math in Florida and Mississippi, Cathy worked as an Educational Consultant, coaching District and School-level administrators and teachers, helping to improve instructional strategies resulting in increased academic outcomes. While in this role, it became evident that low school accountability grades are not indicative of the students’ potential but rather indicative of the gap in expectations and worked hard to change that reality. Cathy earned her Doctor of Education in Administrator Leadership for Teaching and Learning and strives to impact positive social change. When Cathy is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons (most likely on a sports field of some kind), reading, and relaxing at home with her Maltipoo.

Cathy Watson

What challenges are you looking forward to helping potential partners discover solutions for?

I am excited to help our future partners transform their District or school culture and their students’ future by helping them to build and incorporate effective strategies for all students, giving them the thinking tools to compete in any global scenario, extending far past their sole content knowledge, making them truly college and career ready.

What impact are you hoping to make through the work that we do?

I have worked with more than 50 school districts over the past 12 years in Mississippi in a consulting role. I have helped schools and districts transition from a school-improvement status into successful academic institutions, with several winning state awards and recognition for their high academic growth and achievement rates.

What is your favorite quote and why?

“The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his (or her) wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.” – Kahil Gibran

This quote encapsulates the nucleus of my belief as a parent and educator, for my job is to broaden the horizons of my children and students without narrowing their scope with my personal worldview.
